Been thinking about this for awhile now.Where do you catch or even see smallies in the winter on Millelacs????Never spotted one on the camera yet (about ten hard water seasons now fishing with a camera)just curious if others target and/or caught by mistake?????Is it possible to catch any fish by mistake???? c63

I had an ice angler tell me that if he is not seeing a certain kind of fish on his camera, then that kind of fish is not in the lake.

Seems a little naive.

I've seen a picture of someone that caught a bass on the mud flats while ice fishing. That was about 6 or 7 years ago. That's the only time I've ever heard of anyone catching a smallie on Mille Lacs in the winter.

They teleport to the surrounding lakes around mille in December and back in may. just like the crappies but they teleport out in early June and don't come back till March

My buddy and I fish mille lacs a ton. We see them a lot on the shallower rocks on the northwest side on camera when running tip ups. He caught a few while jigging and watching them on the camera. Big schools of them with walleye mixed in. Fun to watch they are like suspended football's just floating around.
