Sad story here, I was checking trail cams last night when I heard a grunt/moan. Didn't think anything of it, thought maybe it was my dog who was running around.

I decided to move the camera to a different tree and noticed a big dark circle of mud. Looked a bit closer and a saw a dead deer laying in it. Went over to see what happened and turned out the deer was still alive but extremely exhausted. I tried to tip the deer on her belly, she got about half way up and stumbled back down. It was clear her front left leg was broke and possibly her left hind leg.

Looked like she'd been hit by car and stumbled down into our woods. Looked to be a 1 year old doe. At least half the meat (left side) was shot and she'd been laying for a while rolling around in her feces. I decided not to get a tag.

On the bright side I did see my first set of twin fawns on camera this season.

That's too bad the deer had to suffer. At least you saw twin fawns.

Last week when I went to refill my deer feeder I noticed that something had tried to rip the feeder off of the tree that it was attached to. One of the ratchet straps was broken, so I was assuming a bear. Put the camera back up and this is what I found.

Made it down in the woods to check trail cams last night. Had a bachelor group of bucks come through the other morning with a couple nice ones in the mix.

Starting to see more fawns, although I still see a lot of does walking around with no fawns.

Got up to check the camera and so some work on the land yesterday. So many fawn pictures it is a little ridiculous. Those little guys really hop around. Here are some twins and a couple bucks I'm seeing.

Glad you're seeing some fawns Bottlebass. I'm still not seeing many fawns here. May be natures way of letting us know we have too many deer given the available habitat.

I was doing some work down in the woods this weekend so I decided to pull cards again. This one appears like it may be the same buck as above but its tough to tell based on the angles. Brow tines look different but the rest looks somewhat similar. Either way he'll be a dandy come hunting season!
