Have been on Pool 4 a couple times the last few weeks and to say it is a tough year is an understatement. Low stage and high flow have complicated the fishing and I believe the spawn also. Fish are constantly moving and getting fish out of an area on consecutive days probably won't happen. If fishing right now you definitely need to be able to adapt and use many techniques.

On my previous outings I found numerous male walleyes willing to eat but females were hard if not impossible to find much less get to eat. Yesterday I found the males that have already done their job of the spawning process were extremely aggressive and crushing baits.

I put in a lot of time in a few areas that I know for a fact are holding some prespawn fish and I finally had a short window of time a few decided to eat. I threw blades, plastics, and hair. They each caught fish.

I had 4 big bites and got 2 in the net. They were 3 casts apart and went 10.6lbs and 11.3lbs. I would say most females will drop their eggs in the next couple days so time is running out.

The only way to fish for big fish is to expect and be thankful for only a couple bites per outing. Not many people willing to fish 10+ hours for 1 bite. Most times the big fish are not with the little fish.

Nice fish Booner! Catching big ones that fast together doesn't happen often.
