Minnesota governor plans Mille lacs fishing trip for the bass opener...except he will be on Lake Kabetogama fishing for walleye when bass fishing opens on Mille lacs

Mark Dayton and his staff got this one right. Lol. Just shows how informed these people are about what is happening about the lake.

What a bunch of clowns.

Are you really nitpicking about what the press is calling "bass opener"?! In the eyes of the ML folks, the Gov can never win. The attitude of some people is so pathetic and stale. He could ignore ML and fish elsewhere and people will complain. Now he plans a showcase event by staying a local family owned resort and target a secondary species on the lake with the most well known outdoor tv personality and the homestate winner of the AOY bass tournament who won with an insane bag of fish, and people will complain about this too. Yes, you can fish for bass on the May 13th opener, but that's only catch and release. Starting on May 27th you can keep bass, which before just a couple of years ago, was the bass fishing opener.

Here is a more thorough article about the event.

I'm no fan of Governor Goofy, but on this one, I think he is ok. The 27th is the Catch and Keep Bass opener. Maybe he is looking for a giant for the wall and wants to wait til he can keep one!

Nothing wrong with bringing more positive publicity to the lake, even if it includes that other fish, the dreaded Smallie! I have seen an uptick on Bass specific websites from out a stater's looking at fishing Mille Lacs after the B.A.S.S. tournament last fall. Hopefully the resorts can figure out how to gain the business of the Bass guys.
