I have had a front row seat (as I have for many years) to observe the tribal harvest on Mille Lacs. The video link below is what I witnessed on the evening of April 17th. It was taken while sitting on my dock as some tribal rigs were cruising continuously back and forth along the shoreline. This one in the video stood out more than most that came by. Turn up the volume so you can experience what my neighbors and I did for a number of nights!

At least know the dam rules before you start if your gonna claim to value and care about the resources!

So can they have some bass? Also, could you tell did they have it in hand and then throw it back off the boat or did they shake it off the very long spear.

If you watch closely you can see one guy holding a tub that I believe had the bass in it. We didn't see them toss it out. Looking at previous years reports from the FDL band, it seems like bass are allowed.

Don't worry guys they are doing it to preserve their heritage. Preserving it by using a generator and lights and a modern boat just like their ancestors. Bye bye 2013 year class.

So how come when I bow fish I need my generator under a certain decable which I believe is like 60 (way quieter than that) and no closer than 150 feet from a residence?

I guarantee you the state CO did nothing and threw the fish in the garbage. They don't give a damn. A lot of people use the term literally incorrectly, but that video literally made me sick.

Actually the CO was on it quickly. Even on his day off. But unfortunately his hands are tied due to the politics that hang over the state. Our state DNR has no jurisdiction over the bands (in this case FDL band). The report was turned over to the bands DNR. At this point it's up to them if they do anything at all or issue a citation.
