Wasn't able to be up until 9 am saturday. Did very well in the middle of day with fish from 17 to 29 inches. Saturday night the bite was good but not what I thought it would be fish ran a lot smaller than during the day but still a great opener.

Took a trip away from the river to do some opener fishing. Mille Lacs didn't disappoint! We caught a ton of the (healthy looking) 2013 year class but snapped photos of most of the larger fish. Multiple 20" smallies, several wallayes up to 27", and a 35" northern. It was a great day considering my company for the day had never fished the lake.

I took my 9 year old son and my sister out from 4:30 - 8:30 am and 7:30 - 10:30 pm on Saturday. We only bobber fished (sand in the morning and rocks at night) and although we didn't count, I am sure had 60+ walleye in the boat and many many more missed bites. Fish were anywhere from 12" to 24" and all of them were very healthy. We had a blast and it was by far my best opener ever on Mille Lacs.

There were even crowds at the landings, so it was good to see the lake busy. I hope the resorts were as busy and can make some money this year.

Great opener on this past weekend. We fished most of the day Saturday near the garrison reef area and moved over to the east side Sunday due to the wind leaving around 1pm. Lindy rigs with shiners were the ticket in 11-16 feet both sides of the lake. We boated about 75 fish for the weekend. Largest eye was 27 and several super fat smallies pushing 20-21 inches. Great weekend and opener......

Great opener!!! Me and the boy had a blast on a launch out of twin pines. We caught plenty between the two of us. I can't say enough about the service. Linda was amazing, the waitress at dinner was also. And even though the kid and I were pretty self sufficient the captain and his two boys went out of their way to help out even though they were very busy with everybody else. And PUT US ON FISH!

PS. If Linda reads this, we didn't mean to bail after the late night launch, but we were exhausted, and there was a couple of guys who needed some assistance getting to where they needed to get to once we got off.
2017 opener was a success in my book.
