Can anyone tell me how the fishing is in the end of August?

I want to take the fiancé on a surprise trip, he was there with buddies the week after opener and caught Walleye and Pike one after another.

Typically, tough. The only thing "hot" will be the temps. Night and day difference between May and August walleye fishing on Leech.

You can have a very good day of walleye fishing in late August, it's just not nearly as consistent as May/June.

Heck if mine surprise me with a fishing trip anywhere I wouldn't care how the fishing is...

I wouldn't worry about how the fishing will be there is plenty of fish to be had in Aug

To clarify my post, I just wouldn't expect to repeat the catching walleye and pike one right after the other in late August. Very hard to beat / replicate early season walleye fishing on Leech any other time of the year.

Actually Ive had some good fishing on leech over the labor day weekends especially if it coincides with a full moon. Trolling crank baits at night with a full moon can be dynamite especially up on the north by the federal dam. Perch fishing can be really good too. It will be fun no matter what. Thats why its called fishing instead of catching. good luck
