Is July 4th usually a good starting date for pulling leadcore out deep? Or is it still a spinner rig bite up shallower? Thanks

Not saying it won't work now, but for me as late as yesterday all I have caught have been northerns, small variety. yesterday water was 68 degrees. I really enjoy trolling, it will start soon.

Did very well with leadcore last weekend. Fishing Ontario side, 25 -30 feet was the depth.

Grabbed the sturgeon rods and forgot the leadcore rigs. We didn't get crap today jigging out in 31ft but heard the down rigging guys hit some bigger fish out in 32ft but there were lots of boat up in less than 15ft. No idea how they were doing. Might hit the lake again tomorrow morning and try 3 way rigs and cranks or snap on some heavy egg weights and try it. Not sure.....

I was out of springsteele for about 45 minutes yesterday after I got here and got one 16" pulling a spinner, I'm gonna be out all day today so I will post a report. I too noticed a lot of people fishing shallow yesterday.

Fished Saturday till Tuesday let me tell you what for beginning of July fishing is great! Had the downriggers with but didn't need them with as the boat could fill out in a few hours (2-4 people everyday). Shallow, deep, raps, jigging, spinners you name it. Nothing beats fresh fish! I also went out of springsteel this trip hand full of slot fish also.
