Looks a lot nicer than it was on Sunday. We fished in the 3-4 footers and wind. We had success but not quite as successful as you.

Good job.

Really nice, fat healthy fish. Water temp is still only 68 degrees.

Funny I just saw a resort owners live stream saying all the fish are skinny and we have a bait problem and they need to open it up so we can take fish out.

That's why I'm glad when I see healthy fish, zach. Skinny ones ARE starting to show up. We know there will be a forage issue with the blossoming walleye populatipn. Don't believe the MN DNR when they tell you the 2013 hatch is the only strong year class. Even though it IS the BIGGEST so far the 2014, 2016 and this years hatch were very good, too.
That sized population needs a LOT of forage. Hopefully, the DNR will wake up before it's too late................

AGAIN!

Been catching healthly looking fish all year (last year too) but just caught a skinny one and am starting to get concerned. The bite is just too hot to last and I am thinking if this keeps up there could be a forage shortage. Instead of closing it down, I think they should open up a two fish limit. One over 20" and one under 20".

If they were "well fed" there would BE no hot bite.

This is the only lake in the world that if the fish are biting they must be starving and there is no forage in the lake.

Red lake has had a crazy hot bite the last 4-5 years especially early ice. No one says there's no bait in the lake. Same goes for leech The last few years.

Let's all agree mille lacs is doing great right now, lots of fish all different year classes. . Has a lot to do with the late ice those two years ( not many nets) and also the fact that us ( every race but Indian) haven't harvested aNY fish in 4 years
