Where are you planning on going for bigger ice fishing trips this year?

I think we will be skipping Upper Red for early ice this year. Just hasn't been the same the last couple. Did take time off of work in March to hit LOTW again as we had a blast this past March there.

Plan on making at least a day trip up to Mille Lacs if you can fish for eyes. Will probably rent a house for a night or two also as the lake has been on fire.

Otherwise I've had the goal for the past couple years and haven't sacked up yet to do it but I do want to go hit the St. Croix this winter more than once!

Early ice will find me in the Duluth area. Probably Rice Lake at first or Boulder. Then in Jan. when trout opens it will be Grindstone for me. good luck.

I don't know.

I really haven't thought about it yet, until I saw your post.

Now? I'm thinking maybe sometime after it's drivable for the Durango, I'll find a Rental to spend a day doing the Zen and the Art Of Ice Fishing thing.

Stare down a hole for a day all by my lonesome on a lake where I can bring dinner back for me, and something for the Girlfriend if I get lucky.

Open to suggestions.

No. I only get the Girlfriend on the plane for a week at the end of October, and ten days the first part of March.

Got a couple of years to go before we can spend winters, or even just do the Big Move.

Huh, I thought you spent more time than that down there (I knew not the whole winter.. i was exaggerating). Well on the plus side that gives you more time to ice fish with the rest of us!

Yeah, I try to!

Some times I get a Wild Hair. If I find a cheap flight, I head down for a week Solo just to fish and carouse with friends that already live there year round.

The Girlfriend gets a kick out of getting the Email........

"I'm at the airport, take care of the Cat! See ya in a week."

Been trying to rangle a few friends up for a lake trout trip early January in Canada. Otherwise mille lacs cpl times a week if I can and early trip LOTW. Think I may skip Winnipeg this year and put more time into rainy in spring. And of coarse the new smaller lakes I always try.
