We are heading back to the north shore in September & thinking about bringing the boat. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on what lakes are in the area (walleye) or if it is worth trying Superior. I don't own downriggers-

Superior is always worth trying. Don't need downriggers, salmon will be close to shore, might even be running streams already.

There aren't any walleye lakes immediately close to Tofte. Caribou Lake is 4 miles up the caribou trail. Ninemile Lake is off County Road 7. Those are the closest lakes.

We've always had good luck on Wilson lake.

Depending on the size of your boat, Whitefish and Elbow lakes are also great, but gotta carry the boat in.
