Has anyone ever had their wheelhouse stolen off the ice? I've heard that they're almost always taken from driveways, yards, etc.

Many wheelhouses are taken from the lake and everywhere else, I just wish one time the penalty would fit the crime. These lazy, disrespectful punks take and damage what you we work hard for and hardly any penalty at all and that is why it still happens............Kirk

Every year there are reports of them being taken from the ice.

You just need to make yours not the easiest to steal.

Remove a or all wheels.
Add a second or third lock. A chain with padlock through the wheel.
Extra lock on hitch.
etc.

I've taken some steps to make it harder to steal. Got a good coupler lock and had bolts and nuts welded so that the coupler can't be just unbolted. Padlock on latch only slightly better than nothing.

If you have a winch type system add locks thru holes on the side of the winch reel winch or drill a hole on the side of the winch then add locks. Remove the hitch attachment. Add hitch ball lock system.
Heavier thicker premium locks or bolts also help.

Best of luck!

I've always wanted to find a way to run some current into the hitch or door handle. Flip a switch before you leave to turn it on and when the thieves come by they can a good jolt out of the door handle or the hitch.

Six volt electric fence transformer, should be available at Fleet Farm or farm supply store. A friend of mine had trouble with someone stealing gas out of tractors. All stopped after clamped to drawbar.

I remember seeing posts last year that a guy used an additional cell phone hidden in his house with the locator service enabled.I don't know how all that works, but the cost of another line is nothing compared to a 20- 35 thousand dollar house

I was curious about security on the ice for my ice castle as well. Google trailer locks. A lot of different options. Coupler locks and also a variety of boots basically for the wheels. Fairly reasonably priced which I was surprised
