The pot holes and small lakes in the PR area are ice covered but with not enough ice to walk on.

The area has a very lite snow cover, about 1 inch max.

I walked out on the Red Lake River Reservoir last night and tried out my new K drill. I was only about 20 yards off shore but there was 4 to 5" of ice out there!

I seen a report from a guy that lives on Red Lake. Him and his buddy were out there fishing and had 5 inches of ice. good luck.

Oh no with reports of 4to5 the masses are bound to head north.....careful on the ice!Atleast you won't need the xtra weight of an extension in your bag of tricks yet!Happy catchin!c63

Portage lake north of PR is the only locked up in the area.

Heard the same thing but 10 inches of dirty slush underneath and the bite was not good at all. Take a while for it to settle but man it is good to see good ice this early and we should have a great season up there...........Kirk
