12" of clear ice at 14 ft of water BUT bring ice cleats. Quads are getting stuck at the shore as the wind has piled the snow up. Sleds a better option.

Guides....I would suggest Donnovan P of Black water cats. He is by far the best.
Accommodations...Try South Beach Casino but they book up fast. The hotel in Grand Beach has a couple rooms. Then on the west side Lakeside in Gimli....after that Selkirk has the Selkirk Conference center or the Canalta.
Donnovan might have few private spots.
If you call him do it sooner than later.
ps: I am not in the business just love fishing.

The lake is making good ice. We had 20 1/2 inches on Sunday in the 14 feet depth. A little more snow on the ice but I would still recommend ice cleats. Trucks are pretty much driving all over the place, just NOT me. Sleds are best bet off of Patricia but quads are OK once you are on the lake.

Small pink and subtle presentation the best bet. Personally no masters yet just lots of eaters and a few in the low 20s. There are a few masters being caught but not by me YET.

Cold snap coming for the weekend.

Have a nice Christmas everybody.

No resorts no roads plowed only goat paths at best.

yep, basically 100% wilderness style fishing for the most part.
The only access spot that is somewhat maintained is up by Grand Beach. I believe the city keeps that open. You are on your own on the lake for heaves and cracks.

The "accesses" are just areas at ends of roads near the lake or parks. They are spread out sporadically around the lake. Can you get a truck and wheelhouse out at times? Yes, but you will have to potentially search around the lake depending on snow drifting and cracks where you can get out.

When it snows and blows you better be prepared or get your butt off the lake. The best all around mode of transport is a snowmobile followed by a atv/utv with tracks.

Dragging a wheelhouse up there is a big gamble when you are talking 6-8 hr drive one way.

Pretty rare and even when some do get their wheel houses out, a lot of times they dont even risk staying out over night just because you never know what the weather will do up there. Watch this video:
