Which resharpening service is the best for strike master lazer bits? I'm sick of spending 50 bucks for a set of blades 2-3 times per season.

Also, does anyone know what type of jig is used in sharpening the lazer bits? I wouldn't mind building one and resharpening my own.

thanks,
Chuck

Are you drilling 10,000 holes per season? My last set of lazer blades made it 5 seasons before I needed replaced them. And I'm not sure I really needed to replace them at that point, just felt like the right thing to do.

Here is a link to a sharpener. The reviews aren't great but for $8 it's worth a shot. Also a youtube video as well.

There used to be a guy who would sharpen blades. I think he lived in MI.

Not sure if he still does it or how to find him.

Local places may sharpen blades. I know Woodcraft in Bloomington sharpens just about anything.

Edit... found it via search on LSF.

I sent an email to see if he is still doing this. Says the site was last updated summer of 2016.

thanks for the input. No, I don't drill 10k more like 1-2k. I live in SD where it is windy and there is a lack of pristine ice like in Northern MN. Most of the time I fish shoreline structure and weediness where the sand and dirt tends to collect. I go through 2-3 sets per year.

I usually buy refurbished blades, always have spares on hand even in Minn, never know when popping holes if your drilling where some road crud is hiding under fresh snow later in the season.Check D-Rock for refurbished blades, gander always had them on hand, worth checking a couple different sports shops around town.

Dakotas are tough on lazer blades forsure, might need to switch to a chipper auger.

If I can remember Joe's Sporting Goods did the strikemaster blade exchange.

Your best bet may be to send them to Red Rock Wilderness Store in Ely and they'll send them back to you the next day. They sharpen all blades except Nils.
