I was up to the cabin again over the weekend. The ice was still for the most part very white out there. There was an area getting darker about 100 yards out past the pressure ridge. We need these night time temps to stay warmer!! Fingers crossed!

Not having ANYTHING mess up our spawning cycle (including the electro fishing the idiots do) is going to make for another good hatch.
The thing I'm worried about now is they'll be eating their tails..........

It looks like the walleyes will be in full spawning mode when the regular MN season is open.

When do you plan to start fishing fishnpole? Do you have a certain temp you wait for to be sure the spawning is over so you don't mess up the spawning cycle?

Spawning doesn't depend on just temperature, the walleye can spawn under the ice.

Wow! I checked out the Lybacks cam yesterday and looked as though the ice wasn’t making very much progress. Checked it today and it looked like the ice has completely cleared to a pretty good distance out. Crazy how much can happen in a single day.

By the looks of it I wouldn't be surprised if today is the official ice out date!
