Gmeabrake and I headed west on Sunday morning to try a Willmar area lake. He connected with a pike in the first 15 minutes and that was it for three hours. We decided to move to another lake for plan b to salvage the day. We got on lake #2 about noon and motored out. We observed most of the boats out there trolling around with rigs and bait so we picked and area and started casting jigs and plastics on a slow retrieve with occasional snaps. After landing a couple fish, I let Jim keep pitching jigs and I switched over to casting cranks. They wouldn't touch anything with rattles but they would go for bright colored shad baits. Shad dancers and shad raps both connected with some walleyes and a few hungry pike while Jim continued to connect with the jig and paddle tail plastic.

Always good when plan B scores. Can't beat plukin' em with plastics and cranks. Sure is great having the soft water season under way.
