Everyone knows this spring has been less than favorable for any kind of fishing. There is finally boat access to
Pool 4 so we decided to take advantage of the day and the fish at tally on the chew. The long cold spring has the post spawn fish very aggressive and ready to eat.

I was unsure of what the clarity would look like with all the flooding and recent rain, it was much better than expected at about 16. Water temp was 52.3 degrees and I was hoping that they would be ready to eat cranks. Only took a few casts to figure out that would be the case and lost a really big fish boat side. The day was spent pitching cranks and soaking bait. Most important was getting the crank to the bottom and then reeling as slow as you could to keep contact. #7 Flicker Shads were the only baits the fish wanted to eat.

As the water continues to drop the fish will really be on the move. The key will be to find the fish between their spawning areas and there summer hangouts. Sometimes the best technique is to troll until you find the pods and then set up on them.

We put in a very long day but persistence and patience paid off. Our numbers were good and quality was outstanding. We ended the day with 10 fish between
7 and 9.5lbs with many others plus or minus the 5lb mark.
