I had a blast fishing solo and putting the hurt on some big slabs the last couple of days. I fished yesterday late afternoon and found fish outside of the pencil reeds in 3-4 FOW. When I say I found fish, I mean I found the motherload. They were all sitting a couple inches under the water soaking up the sun in 75 degree water. Bass, crappies, perch, all types of sun fish, rock bass and the lake carp were coming through in groups of 2-5 just cruising like big missiles. The usual chartreuse 1" gulp shad worked it's magic again about 2 feet under a slip bobber. I brought 9 big males and a female home and to my surprise, the female was still full of eggs. I went back this morning and found the fish were pushed up under low hanging trees hanging in the shadows with 72 degree water. I fished for a little over two hours and CPR around 50 fish. They were back out off the pencil reeds by the time I left and the water was back to 75. An absolute blast catching these fish in the spawn. Those jet black males are some of the prettiest fish you'll see. I'll be taking a break from the water smoking some chicken tomorrow. My new hobby has my bank account in a steep decline but hell, you only live once!

If it doesn't matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score? Vince Lombardi
