Hit Rice Lake today with a fair amount of success. Both tippies and banana jigs were used tipped with a smelt. It was my first time "sight fishing" pike (also using light tackle). I found 6 FOW and the pike swarmed the smelt. It was a lot like I imagine spearing would be. The snakes come in fast and grab the jig where the monsters slowly creep in and "WHAM!" A few pig slimers also are sporting some new "jewelry" in their lips courtesy of parp. Flags were also flying all over today on Rice. We probably had 20+ flags with about 75% landing percentage. The cold weather made it a little challenging to keep holes open but everything worked itself out. Great day for them stinky, slimy, snaky, pike. Sorry, no pics...bad day to forget the camera!

Sound like it was a lot of fun Joe! What was the biggest you figure you landed or maybe I should say that you saw? Good Report!

I had one on(lost it) while jigging that had to have been pushing 40". Like I said, no trophies were landed but many respectable fish presented opportunities.

Sounds like a good time. We'll have to make an all day event out there when the weather warms a bit.

A couple of friends and I were there a couple of weeks ago with the same kind of luck. The biggest of the day was about 15 lbs. It was fun watching them on the camera too. Many released and few brought home for supper. I'd post some pics if I could figure out how.
