Anyone been out lately and can share ice depths? Thinking of trying a few spots in Cooks Bay this weekend. Thanks for any info.

I've seen a few people walking out and a couple portables straight out from the main landing on cooks but I haven't been out myself so I don't know thickness. I'm also curious to know if anyone has been out lately and can share an ice report.

Haven't been in Cooks but the areas I've fished have anywhere from 3" - 7". A lot of the really deep areas didn't freeze up until about 1 week ago and the snow we got a few weeks ago really slowed the ice growth in the areas where it piled up from drifting. It's probably the most uneven ice I've seen out there in at least 5 years. There's a good chance I won't drive my truck out there this year unless we get some seriously cold weather before we get another round of snow.

I've seen lot's of people walking out without a spud, not the best idea in my opinion.

Also, it's poor etiquite to walk across someone's spread of tip ups during primetime and then drill holes right next to them..... Just saying.

Update - got out onto cooks bay yesterday from the main beach access and found mostly 6-7" of ice but as little as 4" in a few spots. There was an ice heave spanning a long distance fairly close to the access as well. One guy cruised by in an atv but everyone else was walking. Fishing was sloooooow.

I was off Swifts point last weekend, all 3 nights. Didn't see a mark. Maybe it's because fishing that point is like setting up on 494. The ice was cracking big time and despite having hundreds of yard or space to go around me, people feel a need to go from point A to point B regardless of what is between the two. There was about 16 inches-
Need some peace & quiet!
