Myself and some buddies were up there two weeks ago and my buddy had a giant half way up the hole and broke the line, through my arm down the hole to try and grab him but could just barley touch him cause it was 35 inches of ice. Still fun though! We were guessing it went well over 12 lbs

We were about 3/4 - 1 mile off pine island on Adrians road in 21 fow (at the top of the ice) and golden shiners. We have always had better luck using silver or golden shiners rather than those dang emerald shiners they have up there. We buy them down where I'm located (Anoka county) or we stop in squaw lake. And it was around 2pm but we had some huge marks on the vexilar coming through all day. Have always heard of people using hot dogs for bait for the big pike as well but i have yet to try it.

I'm not a big fan of the "skinny" river shiners either.......that's whats in the river in droves so they obviously work.I'm a fan of larger profile in stained water!!!!!c63

Every fish we caught was on dead bait. Nothing would eat a sucker or a big shiner
