Boat is finally ready to get back on the water. On Pool 4 the and the flow is much higher than it should be for the stage. After setting up on the first spot we figured out fast that the flow wasn’t going to allow the fish to stay on that spot. We quickly altered our plan and went in the troll to find fish.
With the high stage my normal trolling depth was altered and we concentrated on 12-14 feet. After a couple runs we found fish on the side of a break. Very few fish were on the top or bottom of the break, 90% of the fish were on the side. Best speed was 2.2-2.5 mph. Color was very important. With the stained water firetiger and gold were the best producers and the louder the rattle the better. We ran into a few pods of suspended crappies and a lot of 18-20” eyes with a few middle upper eyes mixed in.
Ended the day casting cranks with a few fish to show for the effort but covering ground trolling was definitely the method of the day. Like usual any day on pool 4 is a multi-species event.
