Their position is that they have no evidence of a breeding population of cats in MN. Which also doesn’t mean it’s not possible for a litter to be born in Minnesota. So…you know, put the pitchforks away… https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/mammals/cougar/index.html

December 7, 2018 at 9:01 pm #712001I think it’s cool that we still have mountain lions in MN. I wish this one would not have been hit by a car.
December 7, 2018 at 11:14 pm #712002Nothing new. Although rare, sightings and cats like this hit by car have happened. One in Ely that I remember. How about those in the St. Croix river valley that were seen along with some in the county’s near there. I remember seeing footage of a m. lion in peoples yards. so they are not common but I personally think we have the big cats in this state although few. good luck.

December 7, 2018 at 11:16 pm #712003There were trail cam pics of one in lakeville just last year. They are around and I think more than people realize. Always seems to be sightings along the MN river south west of the cities too.
December 8, 2018 at 12:27 pm #712004I picked one up on a game camera on our land in Polk County, WI a few years ago. A trapper had caught one near us a year or so before that.
Someone once said that you’ll hear a bear if it’s around/following you but you’ll never hear a Cougar. Probably more of them out than we realize if that’s true.Fishing relaxes me. As long as you don’t look for any, then there are none.
