      This week’s report 2/3/20

      Big Sandy Lake
It was great to be back on the lake!
Right off the bat I will tell you that I had a solid 16-20 inches of ice. I did see a few slush spots. We had trucks driving all over on Saturday and Sunday. There are also plenty of ATV’s. UTV’s and snowmobiles. I was able to go pretty much anywhere. Be careful of the typical narrows and bridges.

The fish!!! The fish are very neutral, you catch 1 out of 4. People forget how great of a panfish/crappie population Sandy has. We caught Crappie, Sunfish, Perch, Northern and Walleye (of course 13 ¾” lg). Tip of the day the Tullie population is coming back strong! Let’s hope it doesn’t flood this year and kill them. Take your map out and start looking for drops down to 20-30ft. There is nothing short of 100 spots, there is no reason to bunch up. We used small jigs with minnows and wax worms. I also assume that small jigging spoons would have done the trick also. Again, nothing fast and furious but the weather was incredible and the sun was shining!

Good luck on the water and have fun with the family!

Thanks for the report. I haven’t been up there since I sold my cabin. Good hear fish are coming back and the old patterns are coming back as well. That flood and heat wave really hurt that lake.

Is BSL driveable for trucks? Or is it still a slush pile?

            No problem with trucks.
