Anyone have any luck catching cats through the ice?

I'd rather be lucky than good.

The horseshoe chain by st cloud is a very popular spot for cats through the ice. Very productive on early ice.

You can fish for catfishes with similar tactis for crappie fishing. Most times you just hold the bait still and watch your tip. Cats may have very finicky bite. They will bite all day to all night. Different fish have different feed patterns.

You may also fish for them on the bottom much like for perch as well. You can find them in shallow water of 10′. However I find them mostly in deeper water starting just over 20′. Most often I do well for numbers in the 35′ zone.
