Water has dropped over 3 feet this past week and the fish have been on the move. Water temp has remained the same at 59-60 but the fish have become extremely aggressive.

Once we arrived to the first spot it didn’t take long to figure out that pitching cranks would again be the best patten for the bigger fish. The fish had the bait pinned up on the shallow feeding flats and were ready to feed. #7 flicker shads were the best crank and switching colors consistently was key to triggering different fish to commit.

After the low light bite fizzled out we ran to a few numbers areas looking for some good eaters and the 16-22” fish are absolutely crushing cranks right now. With the high flow right now it is very important to find some slack water areas adjacent to some current.

Won’t be on the water for awhile. 1/2 way back to to landing I hit a submerged log and now have motor issues.

Awesome report. Thanks for the details. I am going to try to make it down there in a few weeks. Sorry to hear about the motor, I had that happen to me last year on Pepin. Not much fun having the boat in the shop right away to start the year. Hope its a quick fix.

That’s a bummer with the motor Booner. Hopefully it will get handled quickly and you’ll be back out in no time. Nice fish you got there!

Stacking em up like firewood! Nice fish! Sucks about the motor though.

Not sure about how good the spawn was this year. Many of the big females caught yesterday had eggs falling out of their bellies.

Great work Booner, as usual. Bummer about the motor. Duck tape and chicken wire will have that up and running in no time.
