ANNOUNCEMENT: The Tom Helgeson Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo has closed and will no longer be held.
Tom Helgeson’s passion for fly fishing and the health and safety of the environment were at once contagious and inspiring. He devoted a large part of his life not only to the sport and the waters in which we practice it, but to bringing the community of anglers together in celebration of their magic.
To that end, when he died we carried on the Great Waters Expo with the steadfast support of his friends and vendors and speakers who made the expo a unique collection of the best of the sport.
This makes it all the more difficult to announce that after four years The Tom Helgeson Great Waters Expo will no longer be held. But with the sadness of the end of a tradition started long before with Tom’s hard work, there remains hope that his legacy will continue on in the hearts of all of you who have been with us. Please continue enjoying our collectively honored sport and the streams and rivers that support us, and continue to gather with like minded individuals. Don’t forget to include your children, grand children, nieces and nephews. The future of our sport and environment depends on generations of children who catch the spirit of fly fishing and sink their teeth into it.
We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to the crew behind the scenes, our vendors and speakers as well as our visitors. And special thanks to the National Sports Center for their hard work and support through the years.
      ~Baird, Kathy and Carrie Helgeson

“To go fishing is the chance of washing one’s soul with pure air, with the rush of the brook, or with the shimmer of the sun on blue water.”
~ Herbert Hoover, devoted angler and thirty-first President of the United States.

Very sad to hear, but completely understand. It was a great get together with some awesome deals.
