JUST CHECKING TO SEE IF ANYBODY HAS BEEN TO BITTER LATELY? HEADING THERE IN THE MORNING FROM MN AND JUST CHECKING ON ICE CONDITIONS AND ANY FISHING REPORTS. OR ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS ON WHERE TO GO. THANKS
I had buddies up last weekend and they did well for perch. They caught a few walleyes but they were after perch. Wish I could tell you how deep but don’t know. Let us know how your doing…….Kirk

Yukonman, Bitter lake is not the fishery it was five years ago. The thundering herd has pounded Waubay into a fair bite and now are doing the same thing to Bitter. Both are large lakes and if you look hard enough there are still limits to be had. Stay away from the herd and keep moving until you find them. The sloughs on private property are another story. We are consistently catching catching 10-14″ perch on our 80 acre slough. I suggest hiring a guide if you have trouble finding a bite. Good luck.

I was in Webster Area last week. I hear bitter was slot.
Stay mobile and you should have success. the guys who aren’t catching fish pop a couple holes and get comfortable. We popped 100’s of holes and moved and it ended up working out for us in the end.

Agreed with butler, bitter has be hammered the last several years, even the sdgfp’s survey confirms the low walleye and perch population,we’ve had better luck running and gunning on the smaller out of the way lakes and sloughs north of waubay and hwy 12,if ya have time on your side its worth checking out.

Have 2 other guys I talked to that are out here also this morning and they have one. Not good. Thinking of heading to Big stone or maybe Lac La Parall? Got to find her something wants to talk . Better option is Big Stone, word from LQP is dead slow, seems always the case there mid winter.Randels beech in Milan had a ice fishing league for years,we always looked at the weekly reports during duck season, little or no fish recorded it seemed by mid january (walleyes)
