We are planning to go out for ice fishing trip and want to make the most of our journey. I am a big fan of Dewalt as brand.

I want to be specific about couple of things before buying one as I don’t want to drop big bucks and later regret. Would love to hear from some experienced anglers

Do I need a hammer drill or any good quality cordless drill would be suitable for ice auger?

I think a 20V drill with 750 lbs/inch torque would be enough to smoothly cut most ice

8 inches is the most popular hole size for ice auger.

I am with brushless drills. Do you prefer brushed motors?

Besides, there are variable speed feature, 750 RPMs and lithium-ion batteries.

Any more suggestions? I would greatly appreciate, thanks.

If you look at K-drill website they list the brand and models they recommend. All will recommend brushless motors.

Use can use a hammer drill with that function dis-engaged.

8″ is the most popular bit size.

It can be tough to part with the money upfront but…

“you get what you pay for”

        “buy nice or buy twice”.

Yes, Yes that is a 39" Pike.
