I’ve got an uncle visiting from out of state – we’re going to hit Winnie from the east side. Anyone have a report on the ice thickness and any cracks/heaves to watch out for?

Pretty sure you are good, but call a resort to let you know for sure. Or the app Ice report.
We had -25 this morning and pretty much for the past week.

Went out from by the dam a week ago Wednesday and there was 18+ inches of ice. Use the resort or watch for the bad ice signs to the east from there. Fishing was really slow.

I was out of dennys resort on sunday on about 20 inches of ice. Perch fishing was a little slow but walleyes bit good from about 6-9 pm off the first break line.

Had a bit over 20″ where we were on the east side. Really good walleye bit up til noon, with six or seven pike mixed in. Lots of perch, but lots of sorting required – the new normal on Winnie until that enormous year class of 5″ perch grows up! Really a good bite overall, though. Kept two eater eyes and 20 perch along with a couple of pike, turned the rest loose.
