Hi. Are the boat ramp areas get plowed by folks fishing the lake or does the DNR do it? Thanks.
December 30, 2019 at 3:04 pm #714736bad idea plowing out a road on your fav icefishing lake, you’ll get new found friends fishing your spot plus weekend dip sheets dropping a house/drilling holes on the road most often resulting in flooding said road, been there done that.
get youself a sled or wheeler and have at it.
December 30, 2019 at 9:41 pm #714737with the current conditions up that way your lucky you can get out on a lake with an ATV or snowmobile!!!!!!!!!!!!
much less someone with a full size vehicle plowing roads!!!
December 30, 2019 at 10:13 pm #714738Most of the time it is a resort or such. Sometimes private parties will plow a road just to be nice and help the local economy. That is normally further away from a populated area though.
Yes, Yes that is a 39" Pike.December 31, 2019 at 2:00 am #714739I was talking the parking areas and maybe the ramp to the lake. I have a wheeler but there is so much snow I can’t get anywhere.
December 31, 2019 at 1:11 pm #714740Don’t think the DNR plows any lots or ramps. Like he said locals or someone with a plow who wants to park or fish the place will do it. By pre scouting or going to larger or popular areas seem to be your best chance. walking frozen snowmobile trails works for me, limits mobility but gets one on the ice. good luck
December 31, 2019 at 4:56 pm #714741I learned my lesson plowing a road(mille lacs type road) on white bear lake for our weekly icefishing league one year, had a couple skid houses right in the middle of the road the next day, guys with portables too, screwed everything up until more snow ,then it was “on your own”
December 31, 2019 at 6:01 pm #714742Call the local bait shops.
They will have the skinny on where you can access a lake, park, who plows etc etc.
If there is a small popular local lake near by, you will usually see a Plowing contribute Jar on their checkout counter.
January 7, 2020 at 7:17 pm #714743I saw that last year on Lake Bemidji. Talk about a lowlife thing to do!
