      Not the biggest bird but one of the prettiest I’ve seen… The kiddo worked hard for 6 days hunting pressured, paranoid public land birds. Got outsmarted by one cagey tom 4 days in a row, had several others that hung up just out of range only to be dragged away by hens, but eventually took a big jake we both thought was a tom when it first came in. Nearly an 8″ beard and spurs not nubs, but the tail fan says jake all the way.

      It was a blast spending the time together. I’m not eating tag soup yet but the kid keeps threatening to boil the water for me. I need to get after it…

            The kiddo has the latest Samsung Galaxy phone, three camera lenses and is an absolute technological terror. But it does take nice photos… You can see it a little in the photo but that bird had some crazy color to it in direct sunlight. Looked more like a drake bufflehead than a turkey color-wise.
