I was up by Rush City and it was 17″ before the deep freeze and 23″ after. You should be fine without.

I’ve been out 3 out of the last 4 days with a kdrill and no need for an extension.

Honest question when was the last time you needed an extension on a metro lake? I haven’t needed one in my adult life. Even the really cold winter a couple ago I made it through by digging down to the ice.

Good question, mid 90’s for me on mille lacs 42″s stood on my trucks tailgate to get a straight hole otherwise the strikemaster lazer with extention would corkscrew so bad you couldn’t see the bottom of the hole.

Same year on lake michigan 48″s 1st time out with a honda 4 stroke auger, good thing we had a backup strike master along with a 2′ extention.

I guess I don’t consider Mille Lacs a metro lake…. I’ve used my extension on mille lacs too. I was thinking more like tonka, prior lake, etc for distance for metro lakes.

you’ll be fine on metro lakes was out on white bear the other day 18’s

no extention but my 2′ extention fits inside my strikemaster flite so its always handy if needed.

bald eagle yesterday making the rounds collecting garbage from the last winter slobs.

20″s on the main lake of good clear ice 24″s back in the north end bay,

1/2 ton trucks driving everywhere still.
