Last Saturday afternoon in Shakopee , i thought i had a really nice fish on. Really was fighting hard. When i got it to the shore this is what i found. Thought it was pretty cool! Think it’s an American Eel?

Now that’s pretty dang cool! That’s not one you hear of too often. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! I seen one a few years ago a guy showed me from the same area. A buddy from the DNR said no way! They swim up from the gulf of Mexico.

Hey, Thanks! Had one hell of a time getting the hook due to how slimy it was but returned it to the water ! Swam off like a champ

That’s too bad, would have made a cool/unique mount.

                  Nice catch.

Years ago, in Chaska, I pulled out one of those creatures.

One of the most frightening experiences of my life.
I had never heard of an eel. When I pulled it out of the
water….it kept coming right up the bank at me.
I let out a blood curdling scream, dropped the rod and reel
and hauled ass up the bank.
Apparently, good humor to the two other guys who
                  were hooting and laughing.
They took it off the jig and released it.

To this day I hope that I never have an experience like
that again. It is like a nightmare you never forget !!

That would be freaky for sure.

Oh hell no… I know it’s not the most sportsman thing to do but that thing would have went back with my jig attached to his mouth and a chunk of line. Reminds me of the movie funny farm when he is fishing and he catches a snake or eel and it chases him up to the house… too funny

Now I’ll have nightmares catching one of those in my kayak. I would have cut the line.
I was bank fishing once (southern Illinois) and had a couple of gills on a stringer and noticed the stringer was going under the bank. I pulled it out and there was a 3 foot snake on the end eating one of the gills. I cut it off and threw it in the water and another snake grabbed that one. Last time I fished that spot.

Spare the rod and you'll spoil the child
                          Take a kid fishing
