Saw a few scattered reports of friends finding spores this weekend. Looks like mostly pinky nail sized for the most part. Looks like we are going to get the rain i was hoping for, but the lows over the next couple days will make things interesting. i get the feeling it may be a stretched out season. I will try and get out tomorrow and Wednesday myself.
There has been a few popping up around central part of the state… Over the weekend had friends find some in the “early” spots..we could use some warmer weather…but they did find a few decent sized ones
I’ve been out and havn’t found any in spots from last year. I agree the overnight temps won’t help anything. Maybe the slow warmup and moisture will provide and massive harvest. One can dream!

Found 3 small grey’s yesterday in Washington county. Looking at the forecast for the next week or 2, as walleyechaser and JJ said I think we could have a longer season this year….weather permitting. We are still a bit out.

I will probably hold off until early next week. After the cold temps this week, I can’t imagine much growth has occurred. Looking at the 7 day forecast, I think the next two weeks should be stellar.
This week I focused on getting some ramps between the rain showers. I found one really excellent ramp bed and pulled about a Walmart bag full of them.
Growth has been been quite surprising around central part of the state with quite a few morels picked around my circle of friends… Just don’t over harvest the ramps as they take 5-7 years to reach a stage where they can reproduce and can easily be completely wiped out of a area…I have also noticed leaving some morels behind in your “spots” makes the harvest a lot better the next year
Made it out for a couple hours yesterday afternoon and was pleasantly suprised! Found lot of small ones and managed aabout 40 decent sized blacks. It is still early and I couldn’t believe I managed this many. Could use some more rain to keep them popping. Looks like this is going to be a great year. This was central MN. Get out and get em

Negative. I didn’t get a chance to run around this weekend. I checked out some new ground yesterday trying to turn up some new honey holes. Didn’t find a single morel, but did stumble into a pretty awesome old apple orchard, just teeming with bees.
i will probably wait until Thursday or Friday before i walk into my hallowed grounds. I want them to get nice and plump before I go pick clean. Tonight i have two new pieces of ground i want to explore. I have a few known producers, but always looking to add to the stable.
I hear you on that. I’m always dreaming of that elusive patch loaded with Morels that is out there. I hope this hot weather doesn’t torch them for this weekend. I can’t get out again until Saturday.
