Musky landing net

I’m looking for some feedback on musky nets. I’m planning on doing more musky fishing and am in need of a reliable landing net. The two I’ve been looking at are the StowMaster TS116Y Tournament Series and the Frabill 8450 Power Catch Big Kahuna. Anybody have any feedback on either of these or others. I don’t have an issue spending the money as long as it’s a quality net but haven’t found much online in terms of customer reviews.

Big Kahuna hands down. I would not go any other way as far as a net goes.
You’ll not regret that decision.

Those two are the ones I saw as being top ones. Only advantage I saw on the other one is it collapses down and folds in half for better storage.

They both have the pros and cons. I’ve used both.

Big Kahuna is certainly more durable, but due to it’s weight and thick netting you can’t swing it through the water, and it takes up a lot of space. However hooks don’t get tangled and cause a hassle, and its big enough that a large fish isn’t abused.

The Stowmaster is very nice for storage and the netting allows for swinging through water. But its not as durable and hooks get tangled a little more.

I think it depends on how often you’ll be using the net and if you’re fishing solo or with a partner, and perhaps if you can get a good deal on one or the other. I was shopping for a net and stumbled upon the Frabill version of the Stowmaster for $45 at Dick’s Sporting Goods ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

Yes, if you’re fishing alone that certainly would affect some things in terms of your net…Big Kahuna is not a solo fisherman friendly net…If you’re gonna be with someone each time though- worth it. Absolutely swallows fish- keeps the fish in the water at all times- doesn’t beat up their fins. Hooks don’t get buried like some nets. And it takes a lot of use to tear holes in the net- unlike others that rip very easily.

Frabill nets are nice I had one for 12 years but I really like the the drifter nets! They have a xl and xxl. I bought the xxl but the xl will hold whatever you catch. Net is good quality and the bag hangs nicely open and deep. Check one out before you decide.
