anyone have info on ice conditions along the Northshore

or a source than can be checked regularly

it’s a long drive to find out it’s socked in with ice…..

I’m the opposite I want it socked in with ice so I can go ice fishing. I hope it’s a long time until you get to cast from shore. Mid march maybe?

They are ice fishing straight out from 21st street in Duluth. Call Marine General the know the lake well.

safe harbors must be full of ice by now

guess i should bring ice gear as well as shore gear when I go up there …

Ice from North Shore all way to South shore as far north of Duluth as Stoney point (maybe farther). Lots of people ice fishing anywhere you can park and find a way through the pack ice. Closer to Duluth the ice is tough to get through to fishable ice. Farther north it is easier to access the lake – but it is thinner – more cracks to jump over.

You lost me at “more cracks to jump over”.

Pressure ridges – openings in the ice – like tectonic plates – some are small in nature – some heave the ice upwards.
