I have a 1974 Jaco camper. Still in great shape and the furnace has started for me all the time. Well now I get the pilot to light but when I turn the knob to get the furnace going it shuts off. Pilot on but the burner doesn’t fire up. What do I do? Thanks. good luck.

If the pilot stays on, your gas valve is bad I would guess. What brand and type of furnace is it?

If the pilot goes out when you turn the gas valve to on. Its normally a bad thermocouple or thermopile.

I had a similar situation with a similar era heater. It was the vent. Mostly plugged with a bee hive in production.

Thanks Bobber. The brand name is Duo-Therm. Haven’t cleaned it in awhile also. good luck.
