Went two weeks ago and was nailing them, then last weekend only caught 1 off two flats over the weekend.. Was marking them but I am sure they were caught recently as they were skittish to bite.
Just go to known good flat and get away from ppl if you can and you should be good.
BTW- go with fathead and suckers

Years past for us was deeper rocks/even shallow rocks like 2mile this time of year flats produced walleye n pout.
small hammered gold pimples or green n gold with spikes for perch, transition ares off east shore sand to mud, usually around 28′ is worth checking out, straight out from the old lake side resort.

I’ve pulled a few outa deep mud 32-36′ chasing tulibees. You really cant even target jumbos anymore, there is just one here or there these days. More like a fluke catch than anything. The perch fishery has basically collapsed. ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

The Extravaganza isn’t really about perch anymore for most. It’s a fun crowd with tons of prizes and drinking, always fun to watch the drunk guys. First place is only $500 and has probably already been caught anyway. I haven’t missed one in 20 years , but I don’t plan to go this year, getting too old I guess.
