With the ares  lake levels down 1 1/2 to 2 feet and the water temps 73 to 76 degrees.

I have encountered some strange pan fish encounters.  Shallow lakes 16 feet or less seem to be shut down, a few fish can be caught but the bite is very slow. I graph big clouds of biomass on these lakes, with seems to shut the lake down.

On the deeper  lakes there are not masses of biomass and the bite is a lot better.

Any one know what is doing??

Just a guess: with the warm water and large biomass, the pannies have full stomachs and easy pickings.  On the deeper, cooler, cleaner lakes they still have to work for their food and will chase.  But I’m no fisheries biologist….

          When in doubt, shoot again.

Good point on the biomass. The fish do not chase; to get bit the bait has to be still or moving very slow(o.3 mph or less)
