I’m wondering if pool 2 is open or frozen over? I’ve been thinking about heading down there, maybe even just for some shore fishing. With all these warm temps, does it freeze down there or stay open most of the winter?

Main channel is open, with a few ice chunks floating around. Shorelines are locked up anywhere from a few feet to 20 plus feet out. Now, this is just from what I’ve seen crossing the river on 35E and 52, but I would imagine that conditions are about the same throughout the area.

Plenty ice floating around to hit with the boat last weekend. Bite was not to bad.

I’ve heard that you are able to launch a boat at the Hidden Falls ramp. Has anyone been down there to check it out lately?

The water skiers chopped it open a couple weekends ago.

With the warm temps this weekend I want to try and hit pool 2. Any recommendations on where to launch, and how’s the ice situation?

South St Paul launch is wide open. I can only see a few small floating ice chunks as I sit here

I’ve only ever launched at lilydale. Where is the South st Paul landing?

494 and Hardman Ave. From 494 take a right by Pomps tire and follow that road under the bridge
