Last weekend our family went to S.W. Minnesota to visit our son and his fiancee. The weather was hot with temps in the mid 90’s Sat and upper 90’s Sunday so we fished the morning hours and were done by noon each day. Never fished the S.W. Minn area before so it was a new adventure.

On Saturday my wife and two or our sons piled into the boat and give er a try. Four adults in my boat is a load. LOL Not knowing where to fish we started pulling spinner rigs with crawlers and leeches. We caught several perch and a few bullheads and one nice 26 inch Walter (see pics).

Sunday morning the boys and I went after it again doing the same thing. I did find some structure in the shallow water lake and started working it. We found some walleyes on the outer skirts of the structure along with the perch and of course a few bullheads. Didn’t get any big walleyes but we did boat 4 nice keeper eyes and one 9 1/2 inch perch.

What a fun weekend getting some of the family together at our son’s place in S.W. part of our state. A lot of laughs and visiting and some bonus hours of fishing. Getting a 26 inch brute and some nice keepers for the pan a double bonus. Looking forward to getting down there again and doing some more exploring in the prairie lake area.

Great report Jim and glad you got out with some family and friends for time on the lake. That walleye is a pig and in great shape. Thanks for the pictures and report………..Kirk

Well done Jim! That’s an area I’ve never fished. Good to see you had a great first experience.
