I know this is a primarily Minnesota-based forum, but Bass season never closes here in South Dakota. Maybe someone can help me targeting Smallmouth in the next coming months into the spawn.. The lake I want to fish is about 25′ deep max. I want to wader fish it (I don’t have a boat). There’s lot of flooded timber, some rocky points and a couple shallower bays (10′-15′ range). There is also a grade that runs through the lake with large riprap, so I thought that might be a decent area as well.

With all that information, what kind of areas should I concentrate on? What water temperature is ideal? What type of lures should I used? I’m a Bass newb, so all information or help is good help. I’m not keeping any bass. Strictly C&R. Keep in mind, I’m limited to waders.

      Thanks in advance.

I’d fish the rip rap with X-Raps and other suspending jerkbaits.
