Took the annual vacation to a Polk Co. WI lake last week and had fair success with the panfish once again. This year the fish seemed to be in different places than before. We caught them in 3.5-16 f.o.w. It seemed to be that the bigger fish were caught in 10+ f.o.w. Tired to relate to small patches of protruding weeds. Used crappie minnows, 1in. gulps, and worms but most successful seemed to be power bait crappie nibbles in fluorescent yellow. Best jig was VMC pink/white skirt. Let most of the 10+ go and kept enough for a few meals. Water looked a little more cloudy with algae than before also and was around 75 degrees. Good luck out there as we head into August.

Thank you for the comments the fishing this year was definitely better. This is the 4th year going back and we have always thrown back 2-3 times more than we caught. These were the fish we kept for the entire week. And it goes to show. Bottlebass that gill was just under 10″ we caught 2 that were barely over 10″ that went back for another day. Heading up to the Cohasset area in a few weeks will be sure to report.
