I’m looking into hunting this area.
as I have some family that live in the area.

i’m not looking for your hunting location but can someone point me in the right direction for turkey hunting please.
      Thanks Jim

I’ve never had the chance to hunt this area, but from what I’ve heard, you can look forward to having plenty of company. <img decoding=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

That WMA is HUGE! 21,000 acres. I’m sure you will be able to find some place by yourself to hunt. Never been to it though so I can’t help. Just didn’t want you to get discouraged from eyenut’s post. If it is as busy as his says then it just may take you an extra day of scouting to get away from others.

I wasn’t trying to discourage anyone from checking this out. Just be aware that, when it comes to planning a turkey hunt, this land has been widely publicized in various magazine articles as a “hotspot for hunting” in years past.

I’ve thought about giving it a try myself, for Squirrel and Rabbit, but that doesn’t require much planning, unlike savvy Turkey or Deer.

By all means go for it! Best of luck!!

It’s a great WMA. I deer hunt it way more then Turkey. It’s huge so yes there will be a few people out but you can get away. For Turkey setting up over one of the top fields would work for early season then the birds get pretty skidish. See if you can identify some birds from calling and then go stealth mode.. Good luck!
