Ive never been to winnie dam campground but, it looks like you have to launch your boat from a different access since you cant get to the lake from the campground? Is there a public access close to the campground or how far does a guy have to go?

May 23, 2017 at 9:12 pm #701655Plughat landing is like right across the street from the campground entrance. Puts you on the Northeast side of the lake close to the dam. It’s pretty clearly mark. Think you wind back on a dirt road and they have okay parking and a nice concrete ramp. Otherwise you can cross the dam and there is another public access at Highbanks. Those are the 2 closet landings.

Gives you great access to Big Tamerac Bay , which gives you accsess to the remainder of Big Winnie or Cutfoot . It’s my go to landing always…. there is also a boat launch right there at the dam that gives you access to Little Winni if you so desire .. good luck fishing .

2011 and 2012 team archery contest winnerMay 24, 2017 at 2:04 am #701659There are a few different campgrounds on or around Winnie , and they for the most part are quite similar. My guess all will be busy for the Memorial Day weekend. Each one has boat landings close by .
May 24, 2017 at 1:10 pm #701660I think you’ll like the campground at the dam–neat and clean, woodsy and not too fancy, beautiful red pines, too. You are right at the outlet on the Mississippi. There is a good fish cleaning shack there, excellent ramp to float the river to Little Winnie (couple of miles float) if the river is up enough. Also, fishing from shore. As other have said, Plughat access to Winnie is right there and has plenty of parking if busy. It’s one of the most protected accesses on the lake.
