Yeah the ice was over 20 inches. Fished in 10 ft of water off the 1st break. Was a steady bite for an hour or so in the morning and evening, alot of small eyes mixed in with a few nice ones. Dead sticks with a fathead produced, but a pink buckshot with a minnow head was lights out.
An 8 inch would not have been enough for me this last weekend.
My brother and I fished for pike half a day Friday 15fow. 3 flags pruduced 1 40inch fish that was a pb for my little brorher and lived to see another day, a 29 inch, and a missed fish. Using both smelt and live suckers, all 3 flags were on smelt. One good thing to do is bring a rag or bandana to the hole with you when catching these pigs in these frigid temps. Gett the bandana wet and keep it over their eyes when measuring/weighing them so their eyes don’t freeze over.
They used to go out of Swift Ditch, think they still do.

Was fishing off Adrians road the 15th-17th about 3 miles from pine island in 30ft. Jigging was catching fish 2-1 over deadsticks. Medium sized pink buckshot with a minnow head was the ticket, had a gold spoon that worked well too.

Was up this past weekend and the temps were also up and down with finnicky fish. I made a pretty good run through my tackle box before I found something that worked. I used a small pink single hook teardrop jig that would be more appropriate for perch or panfish. Once I threw that on I started catch alot more fish. The buckshots, macho minnows, rattling flyers I was using were a little to aggresive for them I think. A deadstick with a red hook was also pretty steady.
I rarely get sick with the flu or a cold. After getting my 1st ever flu shot a few months ago I’ve gotten the flu twice, had a couple of mean colds, and just got over having pneumonia. I will never get another flu shot…………… whether it was just dumb luck that I’ve been sick alot lately or not, call me superstitious
I’m with Bassranger on this one. Caught a half dozen this last weekend in 30ft of water using both jigs and deadsticks.
