I have been. Just got back home late last night. Been up there the past 4 days. Access is in good shape, no problems with main road. Barely any snow on ice. I drove suburban out to Blue Jug flat yesterday with no problems. Very little large cracks or ice heaves.

Fishing was slow, best action was right at sunrise or sunset and lasted about a hour.

Was out again this weekend from Castaways. Main road is plowed out about 1/2 mile but no vehicle traffic being aloud out yet. Snow depth continues to be MAJOR problem. Ice depths vary from 12″ to many spots with only 6″ where deep snow is. This goes from areas from Castaways south to Agate Bay. ATV use is almost impossible in most areas with deep snow, and slush/water under many areas of the snow.

Not many people out fishing at all in this area compared to years past. I think we have all gotten so used to being able to use ATV’s over the past years we forgot about having a snowmobile as a backup option.

Fishing was spotty, but some walleyes were caught. Early morning and early afternoon seemed to be better. Drilling holes and standing in 3″ of water in the portable is getting old fast! With all the cold air we have had after getting the foot of snow and only having 6″ of ice in many spots that have the deeper snow as of today, my personal feeling is getting the big houses out in the next 2-3 weeks will not happen in many areas of the lake.

Spent another weekend out fishing by Wilderness rock pile. Just amazed how nobody is out fishing within miles of this area. Saw 4 other small groups in the area the whole weekend.

Lots of snow is still a MAJOR problem. ATV’s can make it, but is difficult in spots of deep snow. Snowmobiles work best! Some spots have water/slush under snow and when you hit that, makes for a very tough drive. Then you get water and snow packed under your ATV or snowmobile and other problems start once it freezes on your machines.

Ice thickness varied from 10″ to 16″. Areas that had less snow on it had the thicker ice. Castaway’s as of yesterday had not plowed any roads on the ice. Hopefully they will be able to at least plow main roads this week.

Fishing was slow, a few walleyes but most seem not interested in your bait when passing by via the camera.
