I got out on Pool 4 for a few hours after work today, and happened upon this white bass…my largest ever. I was working a deep current seam by pitching a pink 1/32 oz VMC Hot Skirt jig tipped with the back half of a 3″ Trigger X walleye minnow (red tail chub pattern) when it struck.
This fish measured right around 18″, as you can see in the 2nd pic. The MN state record white bass came from Pool 5, and measured 18.5″, while the WI state record white bass came from an inland lake and measured 17.75″. The fish that I caught wasn’t carrying the weight necessary to make it into the record books (4+ lbs in either state), but the length would make it a real contender in the spring when it’s full of spawn.
After a few pics, she slid back into the drink….I’ll hopefully see her again in 6 months or so. Thank you Trigger X for helping me put this state record caliber fish in the boat this afternoon!
just so you know you need to close the mouth and push the mouth against the board for a true measurement it was probably an inch shorter on a true measurement
you can check the dnr booklet on how to measure fish it shows you in there and it says to close the mouth . i watch the warden measure all the time on red lake

Im not going to quote you, but im sure jason is capable of measuring a fish correctly. Its not everyday a guy catches a white bass that size in P4. Nice fish, worth bragging about. Crushes my PB white bass.

Pull your panties down a little they must be pinching your man berries. ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />
Know a little about a lot and always willing to share.
well learn how to correctly measure a fish if your a pro then. my god how can anyone believe a measurement any more ? LOOK AT THE PIC then read the dnr handbook on how to measure
Not sure that the mouth closed would have made a difference, it’s from the nose or the jaw whichever is longer…If all you are going to do is be a negative Nancy do it on some other place…
On another note I love those hot skirt jigs they are the awesome!! Congrats on your catch!!
